The rich history of our beloved Reiki practice

Fascinating
history

Discover the ancient origins of this spiritual practice

Our Reiki practice is rooted in a centuries-old tradition that originated in Japan with Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Reiki, meaning "universal life energy," has been passed down through generations as a powerful healing art. It is based on the belief that energy flows through all living things, and when this energy is balanced, the body, mind, and spirit can heal and thrive.

About me

It is my firm believe that Reiki is somehow in my genes, my instructor is also convinced that this is so, as a result of how quickly I had mastered much of the intricacies of Reiki.

I am from rural Jamaica and my maternal grandmother was a renounced midwife and healer. In those days, health care was very limited where I lived, and so persons had to rely on traditional healers.

As a child, I was often called to rub and massage persons who were in pain or other distress. So then it was not surprise that I felt myself impulsively gravitating to healing, massaging and the general well-being of others.

My interest in Reiki began in January, 2023 when I went into a bookstore and saw a Reiki book for beginners. I heard of Reiki but had never given it any deep consideration I bought the book and began reading it.

Faith would have it that the resident that I cared for, daughter is a Reiki practitioner. I told her of the book that I had bought, and we began to discuss Reiki. The daughter gave me a Reiki textbook and also gave me a session. I felt assured that it was something for me and I began attending classes. I am happy to say that I am now a Reiki practitioner.
